Eugene Jenő Palotas 2022

Passed away at home, on July 22, 2022, with the love of his life, Elizabeth, by his side.
Eugene, a Hungarian-born immigrant, came to Canada with a suitcase and his ambition. He was driven, hardworking and unstoppable. Those, who were fortunate to have had the honour of meeting him, were left forever touched by his zest for life, outgoingness, perky smile, delicious meals and warm hospitality. Upon retirement, he was able to pursue his passion for travelling and learning Spanish at the same time.
Eugene is survived by his beloved wife and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his extended family, many friends and neighbours in Canada, Hungary, Ecuador, Australia and USA. He was much loved Papa Oso to Antonio Cueva (Pepe), who always referred to him as his Canadian father. Eugene’s endless love and gusto will live on with us forever.
Sincere and heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of the wonderful and dedicated healthcare providers, who offered unwavering support and exceptional care for Eugene. Our friends’ and neighbours’ compassion and kindness during this difficult time will always be appreciated.
Eugene’s determination in the face of adversity was remarkable. At his request, there will be no service.
If you so desire, donations to Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation, Hospice of Windsor or the Hungarian Cultural Centre-Mindszenty Hall would be appreciated.
