Eugene Gene David Profili February 18th 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our husband, dad, and grandpa, Eugene Profili, on February 18, 2022, at the age of 79.
Gene was born in Rossland on December 2, 1942. His early years were spent in Rossland with his parents and siblings while in his senior year, he lived with his Uncle Roy and Auntie Jemma. Many of his best stories were of Gene’s adventures with his extensive clan of close cousins. Gene was introduced to Anna on a blind date and they were married in Trail in July 1974. They began their family life in Sunningdale and it is in their home where Gene was cared for by Anna in the last year of his life.
Gene was a savvy and caring professional. He began his career in accounting working for Les Read and completed his CGA in 1979. Following this, Gene opened his accounting office on Bay Avenue and ran a successful practice, servicing locals in the community with accounting, tax and professional advice until his retirement in 2003. With his quick intelligence and sharp mind, a good day for Gene was making sure his clients did not pay one extra tax dollar than necessary!
Nothing was more important to Gene than family. He will be forever missed by his wife of 47 years, Anna, his children, Mark (Desneiges), David (Destini) Christine (Fred), and his five cherished grandchildren, Emma, Maximus, Katie, Josh and Alyssa, along with Isaac and Trevor, as well as his siblings, Kenny (Susan), Anita, Linda (Bruce), Rick (Shannon), Bev and Gary, his brother in-laws, Bruno (Loretta), Tony and Louie (Carol) and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his parents.
Gene loved to watch his kids and grandkids and travelled to any and all of their various activities. When he was not following Anna’s volunteerism, he was active in the community, acting as Treasurer for many sports and community not for profits. He loved his travels with Anna to the Maritimes, and Churchill with David. He enjoyed fishing with his boys at the Bull River, and in particular, many years of fishing escapades with Tony and Ralph on Vancouver Island, with his favourite spot being Winter Harbour. Gene was also an avid reader, with a particular love for Canadian history. Even well after he had officially closed his office, Gene kept his mind sharp by doing the books of certain clientele up until 2019 when his health began to decline. Gene will be remembered for his sense of humour, his generous heart, and most of all, his practical approach to so many of life’s complicated things.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months with family and friends. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gene’s name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
