Etta’s Obituary
Etta Marie (Haywood) Faulkner was born on January 5, 1931, at Victoria Corner, NB to Violet (London), and Donald Haywood died after a brief illness on December 21, 2022, at Upper River Valley Hospital with her loving family by her side. She married Paul Douglas Faulkner on October 26, 1950.
Etta is survived by: son Paul Richard Faulkner and his wife Kathryn (McLaughlin) Faulkner and their children Sherene Faulkner Jackson, husband Jeremy Jackson and their son Elias; Jeffery Faulkner and his children Marguerite and Mackenzie; Michael Faulkner and his children Caitlyn, Lucas and Spencer; Christopher Faulkner; son Carl Douglas Faulkner and his wife Ann (Bartlett) Faulkner and their children Cory Faulkner and his children Christina and Lincoln, his partner Jacqueline Larson and her children Desiree and Nathaniel; Jennifer (Faulkner) Thompson, husband Scott Thompson and their children Lily and Olivia; Emma (Faulkner) Sharpe, husband Kyle Sharpe and their daughter Lennon. Also survived by brother-in-law Allison Faulkner and his wife Altina; Aunt Mariella Bridgeo; nieces Janet McBride, and Marla Godin, and nephew Keith Faulkner; as well as many other beloved extended family members.
Etta was predeceased by her husband Paul Faulkner; parents Donald and Violet Haywood; her infant brother Roy and infant sister Eva; parents-in-law Herbert and Vera Faulkner; brother-in-law Donald Faulkner and wife Noreen; aunts; uncles; as well as many other extended family members.
Etta graduated from Woodstock High School and Carleton County Vocational School. She worked for Jay Kirkpatrick, accountant; Canada Unemployment Insurance Commission; and the Health of Animals Branch.
Etta’s interest, first and foremost, was her love of family. She was an avid genealogist; involved in activities at St Luke’s Anglican Church including Guild, Social Club, Alter Guild, JA, and Sunday School; member of The Silver Chain Circle of the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons; founding member of #319 Branch of St. John Ambulance Brigade; supporter of the Meduxnekeag River Association; Mentally Handicapped and Little League Baseball. She also enjoyed bowling, swimming, and crafts including knitting, crocheting, and embroidery work.
Etta and Paul enjoyed having family and friends down to their cottages. Etta also enjoyed traveling with the Hillsborough Girls’ Choir to Wales (twice), England, Austria, Finland, Newfoundland, and Montreal. As well, her travel took her to England, Scotland, Ireland, Florida, Canada, and United States.
Etta’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness and support she received from the staff at Riverside Court, Extramural, Upper River Valley Hospital, and the many years of compassionate care she received from Dr. A. Wayne McLaughlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meduxnekeag River Association, Carleton County Animal Shelter, or a memorial of the donor’s choice.
Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec 29, 2022, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm from the Scott Funeral Home.
The funeral Service will be held on Dec 30, 2022, at 1 pm from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel. The family has requested guests wear a mask.
Pastor Carl O’Donnell will be officiating.
Interment will be held in the spring of 2023 in the Christ Church Cemetery, Lower Woodstock, NB
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meduxnekeag River Association, Carleton County Animal Shelter, or a memorial of the donor’s choice.
