Obituary of Ernestine Anne Brooks
It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Ernestine Anne Brooks announce her sudden passing at home, in Windsor Forks, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. She was born on Cape Sable Island and was a daughter of the late Richard and Catha (Newell) Smith. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ernestine loved the ocean and came from a long line of fishermen. She always said that saltwater ran in her veins. She had a long career working outside of the home and loved her job as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed time with family and friends and never missed any opportunity to show them she cared by giving them the perfect gift. Ernestine was an avid baseball fan and a collector of many things. She always looked forward to Spring with the start of the baseball season and opportunities to work in her flower gardens.
She will be greatly missed by the love of her life, William Robert Brooks, who she was married to for over 66 years; daughter, Kandy (Daniel) Price; son, William Robert Jr. (Lorna) Brooks; grandchildren, David, Michael (Heidi), Jessica (Tim Bargen) and Samantha; seven great-grandchildren; cousins, a niece and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Preston and Malcolm; sister, Ethelyn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). A time of visiting will be held at 12 p.m. until the time of funeral at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 4, in Windsor Church of the Nazarene, 131 Wentworth Rd., Windsor, Rev. Mark Collins and Rev. Andrew Barker officiating. Masks are encouraged to be worn. Burial will follow in Windsor Forks Community Cemetery, Hwy 14, Windsor Forks. A reception will follow in the DeMont Family Funeral Home, Elmcroft Reception Centre, 419 Albert St., Windsor. Donations in Ernestine’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
