Ernie McKee
August 8, 1943- March 10, 2022
Let it be known that everyone who has had the misfortune of having their spirit crushed by losing game after game to Ernie, can feel hopeful that they now have a chance to win. Ernie has taken his competitive spirit to greater heights. He was a stubborn bugger and even at the end, he went out on his terms. Supported and surrounded by his family, he began his new journey on March 10, 2022.
Whether it was his earlier days playing fastball and hockey, or more recently, his Texas Horseshoe talents, and Bid Euchre expertise, Ernie was a fearless, often ruthless opponent, hence the nickname ‘Evil Ernie’. In games or life in general, Ernie always had advice to share… whether you wanted to hear it or not.
He was a man of many talents. Ernie could fix almost anything or so he thought. He could pack a van perfectly, and if you ever needed a tool, the swiss army knife was always in his pocket, which also came in handy when cracking a beer.
Whether it was at the cottage with family or Rving with friends, Ernie loved being surrounded by the great outdoors, creating memories from Trout Creek to Texas.
Ernie is survived by his wife Beth of 50 years, his son Todd, daughter-in-law Heather and his grandchildren Julia, Jake, Kirsten and Kurtis, who will remember him for working hard, playing harder, and loving his family.
He is also survived by brother Ken (late Irene), sister Reta (Ken), sister Dale (Mickey), and sister-in law Beryl (late Jim)
He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary, His brothers Eric and Jim. Ernie will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends
Everyone is invited to join the family in a visitation of Ernie’s life at Marshall Funeral Home on Wednesday March 23 from 2:00- 4:15 p.m. A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 4:30 pm.
Many thanks to Dr. Papia and staff at Sunnybrook CVICU, who provided professional and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform an unsolicited act of kindness towards someone else. Donations in Ernie’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Glen and I are so sad for Beth and her family. Ernie’s strength of character was inspiring. Beth shared stories of their travels to Texas. We learned about Ernie’s talent for hunting and fishing and his love of nature.
