Ernest Monkman
It is with great sadness we announce the passing Ernest Monkman on Thursday, October 20, 2022
He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Elsie Monkman; his brother Lorne and sister-in-law Marilyn.
He is survived by his loving wife Diane of 59 years of marriage; son Leslie and daughter Sherry (Bucky); his grandchildren Calista (Alexander) and Connor (Alyson); brother Jerry (Mary), Fred, Willie (Gail) and Johnny (Sharon); sisters Darlene (Terry), Laurel (Mack), Jackie (Gord), Diane (Randy) and his sister-in-law Michelle.
Ernie had many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins, too many to count on one hand.
Ernie Monkman lived a wonderful full life as a police officer in Winnipeg, a crop duster, a hunter and fisherman. After retirement he spent his time in Loon Straits surrounded by family and friends.
The family would like to send their sincere thanks to Deer Lodge Centre care team for giving Ernie the most amazing care in the last bit of life. Family would also like to thank all of Ernie’s family and friends for the outpour of support and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Manitoba Alzheimer Society for Dementia Care and Brain Health research.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Loon Straits.
“We will never forget the love you shared for all of us. You were our rock, and our light in all our darkest days. We will miss for forever and always. Till we meet again.”
