Erika passed away peacefully on August 22 at the age of 87, at her home with family by her side. A longtime resident of Chatham, Erika was born in Munich Germany, March 28, 1935. Beloved wife to the late Emil Neuheimer (2001). Loving mother to sons Andreas Neuheimer(1990), Thomas Neuheimer (Windsor), and Michael Neuheimer and wife Grace Chaberska (Windsor). Loving Grandmother/Oma to Fenya and Toby. Predeceased by her brother Georg Filser and two sisters Giny Lessmann (Filser) and Elfriede Keller (Filser) in Germany. Also missed by nieces, nephews and extended family in Germany and Toronto. Erika enjoyed entertaining her many friends and was a great cook. Family, friends and food were central to her life. She enjoyed her swimming and exercising at the Chatham YMCA and had many happy times with her Ridgetown and Chatham Kaffeeklatsch friends. She loved her operas, classical music and gardening. Erika attended the Roman Catholic Church in Chatham and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Many thanks to Dr. Kathryn Bailey and the staff at Thamesview Family Health team for the many years of support. At Erika’s request, a private family service and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Erika would be appreciated to the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
