Obituary of Eric Lane
Passed peacefully away in his 78th year on February 15th, 2022 at the Carmelite House Long Term Care Home, Grand Falls-Windsor, with his beloved wife Jean at his side.
Predeceased by his parents Roland and Sarah Lane, and his in-laws Llewelyn and Theresa Saunders.
Leaving to mourn his lifelong love and wife of 60 years, Maxine “Jean” (Saunders) and their three sons, Gordon Todd (Karen), Kenneth Wayne (Michelle), and David Glen (Tammy). Also leaving with special memories, his eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and four great-grandsons. He will also be greatly missed by his two brothers, Larry (Harriett) and Kevin (Carol), brother in law Lloyd Saunders (Suzanne), sister in law Terri Saunders (Trevor Harris), nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Eric was born on Bragg’s Island and grew up in Glovertown where he met Jean and they married. He worked several years with the power commission and as a carpenter throughout the province as they raised their sons, eventually settling in Bishops Falls. There they answered the call to became United Church ministers, living and serving the Lord in several charges throughout Newfoundland. They retired back to Glovertown and then moved to Grand Falls-Windsor, where they spent the last 9 years. They had a beautiful life together and he will be missed greatly.
The family would like to thank the home care workers who took such good care of Eric and Jean these last three years, and the staff at the Carmelite House for their kindness and help over the last 4 months.
