Anderson, Eric Charles – Oxford / Cole Harbour. We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Eric Charles Anderson, 71, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Nappan, NS. Eric was born in Halifax February 27, 1951, the son of the late Charles and Lillian Anderson. Eric is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene (nee Carter); daughter, Karina (Michael) Gagnon, Amherst; son, Craig (Dayna), Eastern Passage; and cherished grandchildren, Braedon and Julia Gagnon; Evan and Nathan Anderson (mother Andrea); sisters, Betty (late David) Hayes, Halifax; Donna (Wayne) Nicholson, Hubley; brother, Victor, Halifax; mother-in-law, Christena Summers; brother-in-law, Brian (Cathy) Carter, Cole Harbour and best friend and companion, Sheltie Molly. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his fathers-in-law, Earl Carter and Ken Summers; brother-in-law, David Hayes and good friends, Bernie MacEachern and Tim Mills. Eric enjoyed hunting and the woods and nature his entire life. He bred, raised and trained Beagles for hunting and dog trials for many years with his good friend Bernie, son Craig and son-in-law Mike. He never missed saying “Thank you” after a meal whether it was a sandwich or an elaborate dinner, and he loved his sweets! He only wanted home cooking to the point of refusing all hospital food. Always a salesman, Eric traveled many years, eventually stopping and working at Eaton’s and Leon’s, Dartmouth. In 2008 he and Marlene retired to Oxford and from 1997 to 2014 they enjoyed summers at their cottage at Gulf Shore, Pugwash, where Eric indulged his love of gardening and landscaping. Eric always had his own unique style. Known for his leather hat, handlebar moustache, many elaborate canes, pipes and flashy ride, he never went far without attracting attention. Cremation has taken place. A gathering for family and friends will take place at a later date.
