It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and Uncle on February 11th.
Epeli Kalou Rakurea was born in the village of Naiborebore Fiji Islands on April 5th 1957. He was a strong Fijian warrior who had a passion for soccer, rugby, music and most importantly his family. He came to Canada in 1983, married his wife Tracey and further grew his family. Moving to Squamish in 1987, he spent most of his working years in Whistler, working for Rona (Mountain Building Supplies) where he met many wonderful friends. His laughter was larger than life and he will always be remembered for it. He was every customer’s favorite and they always wanted to deal directly with him.
He was a man of faith but his greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to watch them swim in the pool and loved to sing to them and tell them stories of his homeland Fiji. His heart would fill with joy in these moments, looking forward to a day he could travel back home with them.
He will be forever missed by his wife Tracey, his four daughters Ana (Randy), Tanya (Doug), Audrey and Ulina, his eight treasures (grandchildren) Katherine, Hayden, Ethan, Rylee, Ripley, Rykker, Raiden and Rune and his sisters Ana(Willie) and Luisa. Too many to mention by name are his loving cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada and in Fiji.
