Enos John Legge February 3 1941 May 9 2022 (age 81)

Obituary
Enos graduated high school at the age of 18 from St. Mathew’s School in Heart’s Delight, Newfoundland. He attended Prince of Wales College in Newfoundland and received a teaching certificate. Enos was welcomed to the college with a speech from Joey Smallwood, then premier of Newfoundland.
After receiving his certificate, he taught for one year at an elementary school on the south coast of Newfoundland. He applied for a teaching position in the town of St. Jacques which is part of the Change Islands and taught at a school there for three years. He moved back to Heart’s Delight and taught a grade three class at the elementary school there. After one year he saw an advertisement from the Hudson’s Bay Company located in Manitoba. The HBC promised an adventure, so he decided to take a chance and applied for the clerk position with the fur trading company. He was excited to get the position and moved up to Little Grand Rapids to work there in 1965. Enos was about 25 at the time and worked for HBC for two years. It was there that he met his wife, Diane, in 1965 while she was working at the nursing station.
In the fall of the year, he was offered a teaching position from the Office of Indian Affairs. He accepted the position and taught up at Little Grand for about two years. During this time, his daughters, Nancy and Joanne were born. Enos and his wife then moved to Island Lake, Manitoba and he taught at the elementary school there. His wife, Diane, stayed at home to care for their children. After two years, Enos and Diane decided to move back to St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Enos attended the Memorial University of Newfoundland for four years and obtained a double degree in 1974. He graduated with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. Enos applied for a teaching position with Indian and Northern Affairs in Manitoba and was awarded a position at God’s Lake Narrows. He taught there for two years and during this time his son, Bruce was born.
When he came out of northern Manitoba, Enos and Diane moved to Bacon Ridge near Ebb & Flow. They lived there for a year and then moved to Ste. Rose du Lac and lived there for six years. Enos and Diane moved to St. Amelia where they started a farm together. During this time, he was hired by the Frontier School Division and taught at the Ebb & Flow school until his retirement at the age of 65.
Enos and Diane moved to Dauphin in 2011 to be closer to their son and grandchildren.
He passed away on Monday, May 9th at the Dauphin General Hospital surrounded by his family.
