Emmy passed away peacefully, with her family around her, on Monday, May 2, 2022, after a short illness. Born in Utrecht, The Netherlands on November 30, 1940. Predeceased by her son, Daniel in 1984. Lovingly survived by her daughter Cindy and son Bradley (Jenn), grandchildren Jonathan, Tyler (Clara Jane), Christian (Krissy), Chaz (Corra) and Danielle. Predeceased by her older brother Andre in 1992. Also survived by sisters Sonja (Enio), Louise (Dennis), Yvonne (John), Shirley (Steve) and Rick (Krisha) and many nieces and nephews. We will miss you and love you always Oma. Celebration of life to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Emmy was born on November 30, 1940, in Utrecht, the Netherlands to Willy (Myntje) and Andreas (Andy) Wenting. She survived WWII and witnessed the liberation of Holland by the Canadian Forces. Emmy moved to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1952 with her parents and siblings Andy, Sonja and Louise. A third sister, Yvonne was born in Whitehorse.
The Wentings eventually moved to Vancouver BC in 1956 where Wil and Andy had two more children, Shirley, and Rick bringing the total number of children to seven.
Emmy married in 1958 and lived on 48th Avenue and Fraser Street in Vancouver and soon had a son, Daniel Harry born in June 1959 and four years later, a daughter, Cynthia Louise, born in 1963.
Emmy later returned back to Whitehorse where she met Roger and his four year old son Bradley whom she took under her wing and raised as her own.
In 1979, Emmy once again returned to Vancouver living in Burnaby, Vancouver, Richmond and eventually bought a house in Ladner B.C. where she lived for 35 years. Emmy lost her son Daniel in October 1984, but always carried his memory close to her heart.
She eventually retired after working at Refrigerative Supply as a receptionist for 20 years, a job that she loved and made many friends at. She enjoyed her retirement and spent her time taking care of her house, knitting, enjoying her Netflix, visiting with her sisters, and spoiling her beloved dog Zoey.
Mom (Oma) was a kind, strong, funny, independent woman who will always be loved and truly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many family and friends and Zoey.
