Obituary of Emma Tubello
Emma Tubello, beloved wife, mother, nonna and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Graziella (Allan) and son, Adriano; grandchildren Jonathan and Travis; brother, Antonio (Italy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Italy in 1931, Emma was the youngest of eight children. Married in 1954, she came to Canada with her family in 1963. Regina becoming their home. Although the early years were tough, she was helped by wonderful neighbours, the warm Italian community and by her church, Christ the King.
A hard worker all her life, Emma never lacked joy in her heart and often, a song on her lips! With her love of singing and a great storyteller with a phenomenal memory, she often amused us with stories, songs or her many sayings. A wonderful seamstress, Emma loved helping others, so many an evening would find her sewing, hemming or mending into the wee hours of the morning. She was also a wonderful cook; her sauces, gnocchi, lasagna and soups will be sorely missed – and who can forget her yummy signature cake! A person of conviction and determination, she was loyal to a fault and was always there for her friends, yet Emma’s greatest joy was her family; her grandchildren, in particular, were the apple of her eye.
Married 54 years, the last 14 years were very difficult without her beloved Alessandro “Sandro” and she struggled to have things remaining as they had been, even becoming quite a gardener, following in his footsteps. In the end, it was Emma’s deep faith in God that anchored, sustained and comforted her, as it had throughout her life. A woman with a big heart, honest and genuine, she valued the truly important things – her faith in God, her family and her friends. Emma will be deeply missed but will always be a part of us.
We wish to thank Dr. Llewelyn-Williams and Sharon, his secretary, for their many years of devoted, compassionate care. Thank you also to Dr. McHattie and to the wonderful Palliative Home care team who made it possible for Mom to die in security and comfort at home as was her wish.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Christ the King R.C. Parish, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK. For those not able to attend, a live stream may be viewed at youtu.be/h7rXkXWpiA4. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Donations, in memoriam, may be made to a charity of choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Emma
