Emma Cook (nee Whitehead) was born on May 4, 1940, to Grace & Joel Whitehead, in Red Earth SK. She passed away peacefully on April 22, 2022, with her niece Deanna Bear by her side.
Emma married Rodney Whitecap on August 2, 1967, and were blessed with three children, her second marriage to Jacob Cook was on December 03, 1983, where she gained 8 children.
Emma was one of the eldest in the community. She took part in community events and special meetings. She was very respected by the leadership for both communities Red Earth and Shoal Lake.
Emma accepted the Lord into her life in October 1998. She loved to attend church and gospel rallies, every morning when she woke up she would look for her favorite song ‘Ride out your storm’, from thereon she would watch various gospel shows, such as Billy Graham, Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland, she also had a special privilege to attend Lott Thunder Crusade in Winnipeg, her spiritual belief was very strong to all her children and grandchildren, whenever they stopped by to visit. Emma took her education in Red Earth SK, and residential school in Prince Albert SK. She worked as a janitor and did various babysitting for Red Earth and Shoal Lake, she also had the privilege to provide homecare to elder Alice M Head (deceased).
Emma enjoyed her time in preparing wild meat such as moose, ducks, and other wild meats, also did tanning hides, cooking outdoors. Her favorite past time was sewing two bridesmaid dresses for her baby daughter Priscilla, then she began her hobbies such as sewing dresses, bonnets, baby blankets, wrap around moccasins, curtains, and cradle wraps.
Emma leaves treasured memories to her daughters: Deborah, Priscilla (Morris), Ida, Florence (Bertram), Rhea (Clifford), Cindy (Chris), Son’s: Dale (Joanne), Bradley (Doreen), Edgar (Georgina), and her baby boys: Irwin, Anthony (Laura), Paul, her sister: Celia (Roger), brother’s: Lester & Edwin In-law: Phyliss Flett, Leonard (Marie) Cook her special boyfriend:Victor McKay, secret admirer: Farron Umpherville sister-in-law:Mabel Whitehead, her best friend: Ivy Nawakayas, her nephews: Robert Nawakayas, Robert Craig Bear.
