Emily’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emily (Winnifred) Taylor announces her passing on Monday, May 17th, 2022 at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 76. Born in Port aux Basques, Emily was the daughter of the late Edward and Golda (Warren) Hayward. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children; Jack Hayward, Frankie (Tony) Jones, Paul (Nicole), grandchildren; Tracey (David), Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Matthew, great-grandchildren; Daniel, Benjamin, and Arya. Emily also leaves behind her sisters; Lillian Howell, Beatrice (Edward) Duhart, Helen Simms, sisters-in-law: Hilda Hayward and Marie Hayward.
Emily was predeceased by her husband; Arthur (Art) Taylor, brother; Jim Hayward, sister-in-law; Lucy Hayward, nephew; Louis Hayward, brothers; Bertram Hayward, Charles Hayward, brothers in-law; Bill Simms and Harvey Howell.
Emily had a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends and was well liked in her local community where she grew up.
Emily was well known in the community she grew up in to be a caregiver and a woman on the go. You would see her walking almost daily when the weather allowed, she also spent 23 years providing care giving services to many families in NFLD and Nova Scotia. Her caring nature was something that provided support to many families who in most cases adopted her into their family.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday, May 21st from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 22nd at 2:00 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel-Port aux Basques with Rev. Jane Allen officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill.
Flowers graciously accepted or donations in memory of Emily can be made to the family or the Canadian Cancer Society.
