Emily’s Obituary
Emily Jane Sheppard
1929-2022
Passed peacefully away at the Lewisporte Health Care Center on December 14, 2022 Emily Jane Sheppard of Embree at the age of 93. Emily was born to Leonard and Jane Sheppard of Indian Islands on August 4, 1929. She lived there until her marriage to Donald Sheppard when she joined him Stag Harbour. They relocated to Embree in the early 1960’s. In recent years, following the death of Donald, she moved into Twilight Manor Embree in 2015, and in September 2000, after a lengthy hospital stay she moved to the Lewisporte Health Care Center. She received excellent care in all these facilities.
Emily is predeceased by her parents, step-mother Mary (Brinson) Sheppard, husband Donald, brother Garfield and sister-in-law Verna Sheppard. She leaves to mourn brothers Clarence and Bramwell (Betty), step-sister Betty Diamond as well as many nephews and nieces.
Emily will be lovingly remembered for her quiet nature and quick smile that was evident even in recent weeks as her health rapidly declined. She never worked outside her home but was a meticulous house keeper who devoted herself to making a comfortable, cozy home for her and Donald. Always a faithful church goer, she could be seen (along with Donald) walking the short distance from their home to the Pentecostal Church in Embree, until age and failing health prevented her from doing so.
Public visitation will take place at Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, on Friday, December 16 from 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church in Embree on Saturday, December 17 at 10:30AM with Pastor Darren Norman officiating. Interment will follow at the Embree Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Embree Community Cemetery fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL.
