It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emile Edgar Poirier on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at the Cornwall Community Hospital at the age of 86 years. He was employed with Kronos Canada in Varennes, QC as a lab analyst for 40+ years retiring to his beloved city of Cornwall where he was born at the Hotel Dieu Hospital. He had a passion for astronomy and reading, was an avid coin collector and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. He was the Beloved husband of the late June Poirier (nee Murray). Loving and cherished father of Pamela Poirier (Matthew Morrisette) of Cornwall. Cherished grandfather of Dylan and Cheyenne and great-grandfather of Issac and Jasper. He is survived by his dear sister Melvina Labelle (Rheal) of Cornwall, brother Stephen Poirier (late Aline) of Glen Walter. Emile will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his cherished son Phillip Poirier of Cornwall, his parents Henry Poirier and Edith Poirier (nee Bergeron) of Glen Walter, and his siblings; brothers Roderick (Cecile), LEONEL (late Yvette), Albert (late Rita), and Michael, and sisters Eva (late Lyle) and Madeline (late Andre). Visitation will take place on Friday, December 30th, 2022 at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Memorial mass will be held on January 4th, 2023 at Precious Blood Church, Glen Walter, ON at 11 a.m. Family will begin receiving visitors @ 10 a.m. at the church with interment to follow after services. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
