Emanuel Lee Asciak 2022

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, surrounded by family, on July 13, 2022 at the age of 92. Darling husband of the late Doreen Blanche Asciak (née Drouillard) for 66 years. Beloved father of Michael Asciak (Laura Spinazze), Jennifer Houle (Kevin), Stephanie Asciak, Dana Puhl (Peter), and Dona Asciak (Larry Fletcher). Proud Nannu of Michael, Matthew (Lisa), Danielle (Wally), Steven, and Christopher (Ashley); Brandon (Kelli) and Nathan (Brittanie); Vanessa and Anthony. Bis-Nannu of 9 great-grandchildren. Son of the late Michael and Spiridiona Asciak. Brother of the late Paul, the late Charles, and the late Maria. Son-in-law of the late Rena and Lawrence Drouillard. Brother-in-law of the late Geraldine, Gord, Lawrence Jr., the late Mary Jane, Elaine, and Richard. Lee will be missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, Malta and the UK.
Lee emigrated from Malta to Canada at the age of 19, and remained very proud of his Maltese heritage. Within a short time, he met and then married the love of his life, Doreen, with whom he lovingly raised 5 children. He was an extraordinary husband and father and together with his wife Doreen they shared a deep love for their Catholic faith, which they evidenced in their daily life. Lee was well known and respected for his integrity in the building industry, and his attention to detail in everything he did. His love of music and singing was displayed in church and the local Coro Italiano choir for many years. Lee was a passionate gardener, and avid food and wine enthusiast. With quiet strength, he passed down his passions, integrity and the need to care for others, all of which are a part of his lasting legacy.
Special thanks to the multitude of PSWs who looked after Lee over the years, the team at Amica for his short stay there, and the palliative care team at the Dr. Y. Emara Centre for their care and compassion in his final days. With thanks to the Transition to Betterness team, we invite donations in Lee’s honour.
