Obituary of Elsie Violet Freeman
FREEMAN , Elsie Violet, age 90, of New Glasgow, formerly of Halifax, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Spring Hill, she was a daughter of the late Siebert and Elsie (Chell) Fisher.
Elsie was a devoted to her family, especially as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Although she wore many caps throughout her life, her work as a caring and compassionate nurse was the calling dearest to her heart. Elsie had a passionate faith that grounded and guided her life. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Denis) Gilbert, son, Glenn Freeman; grandchildren, Matthew (Carolyn) Gilbert, Emilie Gilbert (Steve), Eric (Kate) Gilbert; Aaron (Robert) Muenchow, Melissa McCarthy (Charles); 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Chapman, Greta (Cecil) Hatt and Betty Fisher; brother, Gordon (Ruth) Fisher; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman; son, David Freeman, infant daughter, Esther May Freeman; siblings, Dorothy Fisher, Doris Cummings, Harold Fisher and Chelbert Fisher.
Mask-use is not mandatory, but is recommended at the funeral service, which will be held 2pm Wednesday, August 17, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East.
