With great sadness, we announce the passing of Elsa Broome, aged 85 years on April 26, 2022. Elsa was born on January 7th, 1937 to Henry and Vera Retgum in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Elsa will be fondly remembered as an avid animal lover. She was also fond of taking care of her family and preparing home cooked Finnish meals. Elsa graduated from Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and pursued a career with the Public Health Lab (Ministry of Health) until her retirement. Elsa is predeceased by her husband Urho Wiljamaa; 2nd husband Gordon Broome; and son David Wiljamaa. Elsa is survived by her sister Sheila Hardy of Timmins, ON; son Rick Wiljamaa (Shannon); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held on a date to be determined when Elsa will be lovingly laid to rest.

  1. Dear Sheila and Rick….My deepest sympathy iin this great loss of a wonderful person. Elsa was my best friend for many many years . I will always remember all the wonderful moments we spent together ..Elsa, Sheila and myself. Please notify me when and where her burial will be. Love to you both and to your families.
