Eloi “Chuck”‘s Obituary
Allain, Eloi “Chuck” – 87, Tatamagouche. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eloi “Chuck” Allain, 87, of Tatamagouche, NS on April 3, 2022. Born November 3, 1934 in Moncton, NB, son of the late Henri and Laura (Cormier). Predeceased by the love of his life, Hilda (Mingo); brothers, Leondre (Lorrette) and Normand (Jean). Survived by brothers, Yvon (late Betty), Harvey (Erma), Oscar (Annette), Ronald (late Huberte), all of NB; Leonard of Mass; as many nieces and nephews in USA, NB, NS and Ontario. Eloi and brothers kept close contact over the years. He will be sadly missed by daughter, Judy (Donnie) Berube; grandchildren, Adam (Carol), Amie (Paul) and recent great-grandchild, Kaelyn Mary-Anne. She made him very proud during his last days. Clapping his weak hands when we showed her picture. Eloi living in the Mingo home became very close to the in-laws and their families. Predeceased by mother-in-law, Mary Mingo, Leith, Kenneth, Ralph, Raymond, Cecil, who became his morning coffee buddy, and Mildred. Sister-in-law, Sheila, is the only surviving sibling. Work took Eloi, Hilda and Judy to Campbellton, NB; where he made good friends. Due to Hilda’s poor health Eloi decided to move back to Tatamagouche so she could be near her family. With the help of great VON caregivers he was able to keep them home as long as possible. Eloi loved playing his musical instruments and entertained many times throughout his lifetime. In later years, played at the Willow Lodge and loved listening to music. Played a lot of cards, liked gardening , and talking on the phone. Could start a conversation with anyone, having facts and dates at his fingertips. Could always quote verses from the bible. So many people and organizations to thank. First of all, Eloi’s family for always keeping in touch. Our Nova Scotia family but especially Rhonda and Sharon for keeping an eye out, Dr. appointments and so much more. Dr. Bush for taking Eloi on as a patient in a desperate time of need. Martha Ferguson and her team, words cannot express our gratitude. Martha, you have chosen the right profession, you excel. Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital staff, Coulter’s Funeral Home, VON nurses and caregivers. Could not have done it without you. Eloi was a very strong man who had his humour til the end. There will be no public viewing or service at his request. Quiet family gathering at the Cecil W. Mingo family farm on April 14 at 2 p.m. followed by burial in French River Rural Cemetery. Donations can be made to donor’s choice or NS Colchester East Hants VON. Thank you all so much Judy, Donnie, Adam (Carol), Amie (Paul).
