Ellen Jean Lombard Hill 19392022

Ellen Jean (Lombard) Hill
1939-2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing
of our beloved mother, Ellen Jean (Lombard) Hill, age 83, formerly of
Canning, on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Grand View Manor, Berwick.
Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late William and Jean
(DeWolfe) Lombard.
Ellen graduated from Mack Business College and
worked for several years at Evangeline Motors as a bookkeeper, before
she dedicated her life to raising her children, as well as
neighbourhood children. After her kids were grown, she returned to
work at the Valley Regional Hospital in their dietary department for
over 16 years before retiring. A woman of strong Christian faith, she
lived and emulated her beliefs and touched many hearts with her kind,
down to earth nature. Family was her anchor. Her family was her first
priority, often making personal sacrifices to ensure that her children
were well supported and cared for. She loved spending time at the
family cottage in Medford Beach with her siblings and looked forward
to all the large family events that were held. Being surrounded by
family was one of her favourite places to be. She was an excellent
cook and baker, there was always fresh bread and baked goods in her
kitchen, and many of the neighbourhood children were welcomed to her
table whenever they needed something to eat. She was an avid gardener
and loved being outside surrounded by God’s creations. Her
children feel so blessed to have such an incredible, strong and
compassionate mother. You would never know the struggles that Ellen
had faced, she consistently had a smile on her face and a twinkle in
her eye.
Ellen is survived by her children, Dale
(Tracie), David (Karen), Sheila (Tom) Allen, Cindy Millett and Mary
(Russell) Gammon, all of Canning; brothers, Bill, Joe and Richard
(Mary-Jane) Lombard; grandchildren, Jason (Sarah), Justin (Kersten),
Caleb (Tara), Jeanna (Chris), Misty (Josh), Christopher (Sarah),
Amber, Nicole and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Kali, Lowla, Laya,
Josie and Carl; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended
family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased
by her sisters, Sheila and Judy Lombard and Nancy Pemberton;
brother-in-law, Fred Pemberton and sisters-in-law, Barb, Maroeska and
Donna Lombard.
Ellen’s family would like to extend
their sincere thanks of appreciation to the nurses and staff of Grand
View Manor, especially to Michelle, Kate and Paul, for the kindness
and exceptional care shown to Ellen during her time with
you.
