October 17, 1944 – June 11, 2022
It is with profound sadness and the heaviest hearts that the family of Elizabeth Marie Elaina (Bessie) White announce her sudden passing at the Health Science Center in St. John’s on June 11, 2022 at the age of 77 years.
Bessie was a beloved and devoted wife of nearly 60 years to Urban White (the love of her life); loving mother to Bernice (Sheldon), Beverly (Rod), James (Michele), Shelly, Billy, Jennifer (Melvin), Shawn (Stephany), Kimberly (Spencer), and Dermot Samms; proud Grandmother of Ashley (Michael), Matthew (Kayla Grace), Kayla (Caleb), Jessica (David), Makenna, Katie (Sabastian), Addyson, Summer, Willow, Remi, Charlie, Axl, Rachel, Douglas, Kianna, Dylan, DJ and great granddaughter Hazel. She will be greatly missed by her brothers Wilfred and Patrick and her sister Barbara; brother and sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents (Leonard and Emma McCarthy), Aunt Bess (Dorothy) Ward, brother Leonard and sister Laura.
We would like to express our gratitude to Doctor Sheila Lewis for her exceptional care and concern for our mother. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at the Health Science Center for their attention and compassion.
Thank you Mom, for all your love, wisdom and guidance throughout the years. You were undoubtedly the best mother in the world. We know that as you tenderly look down from heaven on us, you will continue to shower us with your love and guidance. We will miss you terribly.
Following Bessie’s wishes, there will be no visitation at Fillatre’s Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service at Assumption Central Parish in Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, June 16th at 10 am with Fr. Edmund officiating. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Brook Street, Stephenville Crossing, NL
