Elizabeth Muriel

Elizabeth Muriel Shearer 2022

Peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Stuart. Loving mother of Frank (Margie), Pamela (Allan) Dorfman and Paul. Cherished grandmother of Brian (Jodi), Carrie-Anne (Mike), Matthew (Jenn) and Scott. Dear great-grandmother of Finn and Noah. Sister of the late Kenneth (the late Lydia), Marion and Donald (Anne). Betty’s first teaching position was in the original Harwood school on top of the hill. She cherished her time teaching those children and always kept an active interest in their lives and achievements. The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Palisade Gardens for the care and support they provided over the past few years. We were truly fortunate to have such wonderful people surrounding her. Also, to Northumberland Hills Hospital and especially the staff of the palliative care unit; thank-you for the care and compassion you showed to Betty during her final days. She couldn’t have been with more caring people. Donations to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation or Primrose Donkey Sanctuary would be appreciated by the family.
A memorial service for Elizabeth will take place at St. George’s Anglican Church, 8661 Church Hill Rd, Gores Landing, ON, on Saturday June 25th, 2022 at 11 am. Interment to follow at Centenary Cemetery, RR2 Roseneath, ON. Friends and family are welcome to attend a reception at the Harwood Hall, 5453 Front St. Harwood, ON, for a time of fellowship.
