Elizabeth Frances McCarthy, 84, of St. John’s, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully on 10/31/2022, at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home. She was born to parents James & Elizabeth Kane, on 05/04/1938 in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Elizabeth met the love of her life, Ronald McCarthy, in her early 20’s. They were married on September 19, 1964, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Elizabeth had a long career with Eastern Health as a Medical Secretary, retiring just prior to turning 70. She loved to help others, and was an active member of Mary Queen of Peace Parish, volunteering countless hours.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Julie (Darrell) Brocklehurst; sisters Judy (Chris) Steele and Louise (Roy) Hussey; brother-in-Law Andrew Smith; precious grandchildren Liam & Ava Brocklehurst; and a large circle of extended family/friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ronald McCarthy; brothers Cyril (Marley) Kane and Jim (Pauline) Kane; sisters Shirley (John) Murphy and Phyllis Smith; and her loving parents James & Elizabeth Kane.
The family has entrusted Caul’s Funeral Home with the arrangements and cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022 from 5 p.m – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 4th, 2022 from Caul’s Chapel at 11 a.m with inurnment to follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
