Mrs. Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Haggerty, a long resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Riverview Gardens, in Chatham, at the age of 82 years.
She was born in Wallaceburg and after high school moved to Alberta. Upon returning to Wallaceburg, she reunited with her high school sweetheart and was married to the late Robert “Bob” Haggerty for 25 years.
Loving mother of Rick (Terry) Sherwood, Jim Ebear, Bill Ebear, Joanne Ebear and Dianne Ebear.
She will always be remembered as the best and devoted grandma to her 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Betty will be missed by her companion Al Johnston.
She is predeceased by her mother Pearl Sherwood, her brother Jim Sherwood and her two sisters Gwen and Marlene.
Betty was well known to the Wallaceburg and Dufferin Avenue community for her beautiful and well cared for gardens at the house.
Betty had smile and a hug for anyone and she was always very proud to be part of the
Tom & Al’s staff and family.
The late Betty Haggerty rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.
In following with her wishes, cremation will take place and a family celebration will be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society may be left at the funeral home.
