Elizabeth “Betty”‘s Obituary
COTTREAU, Elizabeth “Betty” Helen – age 87, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away on March 27, 2022 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 21, 1935 in Wedgeport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Cassie (LeBlanc) Saulnier. Betty worked as a cook at the Villa St. Joseph du Lac in Dayton for over 25 years. Our Mom / Grandmother was a special lady: she will be missed by all who knew her. Known for her turkey suppers; she catered many weddings and events over the years. Playing cribbage and cards with her friends brought her great joy. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anybody that needed it. She was the center of our family. A great cook and baker, blessed with a voice to sing and yodel like no other. May you sing with the Angels! We would like to say a special thank you to her dear friend Marilyn Wallace, who checked in on our mom while at home and who sat with her at the hospital during the last few weeks.
She is survived by her children Brenda (Arnold) Boudreau, Port Medway, Gail (Richard) Doucette, Hubbard’s Point, Ernie (The late Doris) Cottreau, Wedgeport, Greg (Rose) Cottreau, Lower West Pubnico, Rena (Donald) Fitzgerald, Wedgeport; Grandchildren Franklin, Paulie-Anna, Kandi, Marcel, Logan and Cody, Step grandchildren Pierre and Samantha as well as many great grandchildren. besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Laurent and her son Larry in infancy, brothers, John, Louis, Ernest and Delmar, sisters, Betty in infancy, Theresa Doucette, Alice Gillis and Georgette Maillet. She was the last surviving member of her immediate Family. Visitation will take place from Huslkinson’s Funeral Home in Wedgeport on Thursday March 31 from 2-4 & 7-9 with prayers at 8pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Michael’s Catholic Church, in Wedgeport, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiating. Memorial donation in Betty’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke or Charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M.
