HOGAN (Goodwin), Elizabeth Anne “Betty” of Waverley formerly of Upper Granville. Our dear mother passed away in Whitehills LTC Centre, Hammonds Plains, at the age of 91, on Friday, March 18, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Inglis “Jack” and Ethel (Bent) Goodwin, Betty was the devoted wife of Gordon Hogan for 61 years until his passing in 2012. She was the loving mother of Jackie (Bryan) Parks, Waverley; Muriel Hogan, Halifax; and Leslie (Terri) Hogan, Kelowna, BC; and proud grandmother of Tracy Parks, Dartmouth; Cory Parks (Kim MacNeil), Beaver Bank; Rebecca (Igor) Kochberger, New Orleans, LA; and Renee (Justin) Ferreira, Coquitlam, BC; as well as proud great-grandmother of Ewan Marshall, Kayla and Chloe Parks; Charlie and Oliver Kochberger; and Blake Ferreira. Betty was predeceased by her best friend and sister, Lois Barrett; and brother-in-law, Ronald Barrett. Betty is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special mention to cousin, Charlotte Elliott, who was a lifelong friend and a roommate in later years. Betty was an active member of the Waverley community, participating in Brownie leadership as Tawny Owl and very involved in Cheema Aquatic Club, as well as St. John’s United Church Women and Sunday School, holding many important positions. Betty enjoyed teaching elementary school in Waverley for many years. In retirement years, in Upper Granville, Betty was active in Women’s Institute and also the Centenary United Church, Upper Granville. Betty received the Air Canada Heart of Gold Award in 1988, recognizing outstanding community-oriented individuals. Gordon and Betty travelled to Europe and made many other trips. The book Genealogy of Isaac Goodwin and His Descendants was jointly researched and authored by Betty, with her sister, Lois Barrett. Betty was well liked and well cared for at Whitehills LTC Centre for over two years and we’d like to thank the staff and volunteers for their tender loving care to Betty’s well-being.
