Elizabeth Anne Dally December 28th 2022

On December 28th our beautiful Anne was picked up by her Dan to travel “home”. With great sadness and loss for our much-loved mum, grandma, sister, auntie and friend we celebrate the life of this kind and loving soul.
Anne was born to John Melville (Mel) Christie and Isabel Marguerite DeLaplante in Toronto. Anne’s birth mother died and Mel Christie married Florence Johnston in 1934. As a child Anne grew up in Preston, Ontario. She attended Preston High School where she met Dan Dally, four years her senior. As a young woman she was employed by Ma Bell telephone company as a switchboard operator. She married Dan in 1954. Their two children were born and she became a full time loving and caring homemaker tending to the needs of her family. Dan’s employer, General Motors, in 1961 transferred the young Dally family west to Kamloops where they quickly bought camping gear and a red chestnut canoe to enjoy family time out at Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. Anne and Dan became lifelong parents to Charlotte and Mike Jensen, much needed siblings for Bruce and Diane. The 1960’s living in North Kamloops was very special for the Dally family.
The Coquitlam Years (1969 – 74) were active and enjoyable. Anne and Dan curled and golfed and were involved with their kids in the Coquitlam Sharks Summer Swim Club. Anne volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada and was the Provincial Commissioner of Songs for the Province of BC.
Summer of ’74 saw a happy move back to Kamloops with just their youngest, Diane, in tow – the Syd Smith Years. Anne volunteered at the Royal Inland Hospital and briefly worked at the Acorn Gift Shop in the Stockmen’s Hotel and sang with the Sweet Adelines. Many weekends were spent at their trailer, Walloper Lake. Anne was so proud of her 1983 European Tour with her mother and her 1988 solo China tour.
1990 was a retirement move to Vernon for Anne and Dan where they enjoyed their Ironwood community, curling, cross-country skiing, golf, picnics at local Provincial Parks and walks at Kal Tire Place. Anne was a member of the North Okanagan Naturalists’ Club, volunteered at the Salvation Army Food Bank and sang in the Halina Choir and the Vernon Community Singers Choir. They made many Beautiful BC and Alberta road trips, visits back to Preston, Hawaii and San Francisco vacations.
Anne was predeceased by her husband Dan Dally to whom she was married for 62 years, her brother Eric Christie and her brother-in-law Bob Brown. She is survived by her daughters Charlotte, Diane (Jeff), sons Mike, Bruce (Cindy), grandchildren Kyle, Megan (Jordan), and sisters-in-law Grace Brown and Fran Christie, and family members.
Thank you to: Minds In Motion, Age Action, Interior Health, Debbie P. and Community Care Aids, Lee-Ann, and The Hamlets at Vernon. Like Dan, Anne loved to see the great day that dawns and the light that fills the world. Anne and Dan made many happy memories that we all hold dear to our hearts. They had great friends and relatives and were always up for an adventure.
Mum’s wish was to join her ashes with Dad’s at Walloper Lake. We children are so grateful for the values they instilled in us and for the love, protection, guidance and support we received as we pursued our own dreams. No service by request.
Anne wishes us all
