Obituary
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 8th at 11:00 AM from St. Stephen’s Parish. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.
Passed peacefully away on Monday, February 21st, 2022, Elizabeth Ann Martin, at the age of 84 years. Elizabeth “Betty” was born on December 4th, 1937 in Brent’s Cove, NL to the late Patrick and Mary Martin.
She was the “Betty” of Betty’s Coffee and Donuts in Stephenville, NL for many years. Her proudest moment was graduating high school at the age of 65.
She was the oldest of 14 children and was predeceased by: brothers: Patrick and Leslie; and sisters: Ethel and Rose. She is lovingly remembered by: brothers: Aiden, Ben, Roy, Gerald, Joseph, Raymond, and Paul; and sisters: Maude and Jacinta.
Betty was a proud and loving mother to her children: Michael (Julia), Jacqui (Ray), Michele (Mark), and Jim (Gina). She leaves to mourn with many loving memories a large circle of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mom. She made many friends throughout her life. She considered them truly a part of her extended family. She loved the work she did throughout her life with the church. Her favourite pastime was spending a quiet evening with friends, whether it was for a card game or simply having a chat or visit.
Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family wish to extend their appreciation to Joanne Rose, Roy and Tina Martin, Sandra Foote and Rita Watson, and to the staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL, for their excellent care of Mom.
