Elfriede Maria Jurgens 1929 2022

Obituary of Elfriede Maria Jurgens
Elfriede Jurgens (Wulff), was called home to her Lord and Saviour suddenly, on August 21, 2022, in the loving presence of her children. She leaves behind her cherished family: children Donna (Ben) Corfield, Richard (Diane Gosselin) Jurgens, and Heidi (Rob) Gula. Grandma to Carrie, Sarah, Benjamin, and Zachary. Oma to Dante, Liam, Aubrey, and Raina. She will be dearly missed by her brother Karl Wulff.
It was at a Saturday dance at the Club Heidelberg, where she caught the eye of her beloved Helmut (2018), who was the love of her life for 62 years.
Freda grew up with her parents and 3 brothers on their family farm in Saskatchewan. As a brave teenager she ventured to Winnipeg and then onto St. Catharines, where she created the rest of her life. Freda was a Founding and Honorary member of Club Heidelberg and the Women’s Auxiliary. Freda was a strong woman of Faith and gave God the Glory for her amazing kindness and love she poured out onto others.
She was an energetic and motivated women up until her very last day. Always up early and ready for her favourite meal of the day (breakfast).
Freda told everyone that she was a “tough” farm girl and proved that until her last breath.
Freda had a competitive side. Anyone who had the pleasure (and there were many) to play a game of Chinese checkers with her; witnessed this.
In her later years, Freda discovered technology, and loved to send text messages, with no less than 3 emojis.
Freda was well loved by her Anchor Pointe family and participated in the activities to the fullest.
Her family and friends are heartbroken, but grateful for the blessing that she was. We will cherish the memories, until we met again…
The family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at GNGH ICU for their care and compassion, especially Biljana. In accordance with Freda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 6-8pm, as well as at Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Rd., St. Catharines on Friday August 26, 2022 from 10-11a.m. A Funeral service will follow visitation on Friday at 11 am in the church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

  1. My heart goes out to all of you at this sad time sad time. Just want you to know we loved your mom and looked so forward to visiting her and your dad every time we went to St. Catharines. Looked so forward to her texts all through Covid and right up until now. She was such a kind person and you were very fortunate to have her for a mother, she was very proud of you three.
