It is with
deep sadness and heartbreak that we announce Eleanor Janette Cudmore,
88, of Montague, passed away peacefully at The Riverview Manor on
Thursday 22 December 2022 surrounded by her family.
Janette was born 5 March 1934 in Kentville, NS to
George and Eleanor (Eisnor) Miller. She met the love of her life
George, and they were married on 26 November 1954 in Chester Basin,
NS. They lived in Chester Basin before moving to Windsor, NS then to
Hilden, NS. After George passed in 2003, Janette moved to Chester, NS
in 2010 before making a final move to Montague, PE in
2014.
Janette will be dearly missed
by her sons Alan (Mary), Dale (Sydney), daughter Patricia Abbott
(Stephen), daughter-in-law Kimberley Cudmore, grandchildren Deidre
Sine (Dwight), Amanda Boudreault (Erin), Jordan Cudmore, Martha
Cudmore, Zachary Cudmore, Holly Cudmore, David Abbott (Sarah),
Jennifer Wescott (Martin), great grandchildren Serena Sine, Reanna
Sine, Bethany Wescott, Samuel Wescott, George Abbott and great-great
grandson Benjamin Beach, many nieces and nephews, and her dog
“Littlebit”.
In addition to her parents and
her husband, was predeceased by her brother Raymond, son Mark,
grandson Sam and great-great grandson Elliot.
Janette touched the lives of so many. She was a kind
soul, a friend to everyone, full of energy and always brought a smile
and laugh to people’s faces.
Anyone who knew
Janette knew that her whole life revolved around her family and her
love of children and animals. In her younger years, she provided
childcare in the family home and then continued looking after children
as a school ground supervisor until the age of 76. That’s
how much she loved being around children and the children loved her.
Janette and kids always had a special bond.
When
she was not looking after dozens of children, she spent her time
knitting, sewing, doing crafts and painting. She was very talented and
creative, and her family and friends were the lucky recipients of her
creations. In addition, Janette was a “plant whisperer”,
some of her plants are over 60 years old!
Always baking cookies, cakes and sweet treats, perhaps
that is the skill that stands out the most. She established an annual
fudge tradition at Christmas, delivering pot after pot of chocolate
fudge to friends, families and people she cared for. Her fudge was so
legendary that she was known affectionately as the “Fudge
Fairy”.
Janette loved to travel and
wanted to see the world. She and George went on a cruise to Alaska,
and she caught the cruising bug. Multiple cruises later, she got to
meet 2 of her favourite actors: Mickey Rooney and Debbie Reynolds on a
Turner Classic Movies cruise. By the time she finished travelling, she
had visited Great Britain, Western and Eastern Europe, the Caribbean,
Central America, North America, Scandinavia and even met Santa Claus
in Lapland.
Janette was an amazing woman
and lived a big life.
Janette was a strong, hard working and generous woman
with a wicked sense of humour. She will never be
forgotten.
As per Janette’s
wishes, she has been cremated and a private family service will be
held at a later date at Appin Road Cemetery.
