Eleanor’s Obituary
Eleanor Crowley (Betts) of Oxford, ended her cancer journey on the evening of September 5th, 2022. She passed away peacefully at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital with her daughters by her side. She is predeceased by her parents, Alton and Lavilla Betts. She leaves behind her husband, Basil of 55 years; her three daughters, Valerie Christie (Wayne), Lore Mclaren (Robert), Heather Squires (Brian) and five grandchildren. In addition to her family she has a large community of extended family and friends who loved and supported her on her many endeavours to create a better place for all. Eleanor was involved in varied and numerous community activities throughout her life. The one closest to her heart has been the Main Street Music Society and her beloved Oxford Capitol Theatre. It brought together her values of history, creativity and community. She lived a life authentic to her and was great friend and role model to all. She was fulfilled by community and connection. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. A memorial jam will be held in her honour at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 10th at Oxford Capitol Theatre. In lieu of flowers plant one. In lieu of monetary donations donate time in your community. The families wish is that her spirit continues to inspire those in the community she dearly loved. Thank you to the caring and empathetic health care team and the hospital, and to the music society for helping arrange the service.
