Obituary of ELAINE MARION TURPIN
ELAINE MARION TURPIN (nee DEVANEY)
FEBRUARY 16, 1917 – JUNE 12, 2022
Peacefully, with family by her side, mom passed away at 105 years of age. Elaine spent her early childhood in Pointe du Bois, completed Grade 12 by correspondence and went to Business College in Winnipeg. Mom and Dad (Tom Turpin) married in Winnipeg in 1942 and moved to Brandon in 1958. Mom worked for many years in Brandon and finished her career with the Federal Government.
Mom & Dad had a wonderful retirement, enjoying winters in Mesa with special friends. They loved summers at their cottage in Clear Lake. Mom enjoyed all sports, especially curling and golf – scoring a “Hole in One” in Mesa. She enjoyed following all of the sport activities of her grandchildren.
Elaine was predeceased by the love of her life, Tom, her parents, John and Margaret Devaney and 3 sisters. Elaine will be missed by daughters Joan Bloxom, Diane (Jack) Spalding, Sandra (Garry) Robins and Gail (Carl) Roberts. Loved by grandchildren Margot, Cecilia, Kathy, Alana, Greg, Dana, Christine and Valerie. Elaine’s 7 great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Elaine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to Oakview PCH Staff for their excellent care and attention. Thanks to Alison and Karen of Kennedy Cognitive Services for stimulating and challenging mom.
Honoring Mom’s wishes a private family gathering is being planned.
Flowers gratefully declined.
