We are saddened to announce the passing of Elaine on March 7, 2022 in Elk Court, Brookfield. She was born on March 21, 1945 in Summerside, PEI, the eldest child of the late Wing Commander (Ret’d) L.W.C. Limpert and Anne E. (Murphy) Limpert.
She attended various RCAF base schools across Canada, Halifax West High School, Mount St. Vincent and the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. Elaine worked in cartographic drafting in Toronto, London, England and Halifax.
Elaine married William A. McNamara on August 4, 1990 and became stepmom to Nancy, Mike and Jenny, whom she loved like they were her own.
She loved dogs and horses. She and her sister, Stephanie owned their own horse, “Caper” for many years and she and Bill bred black labs for several years. They also owned several dogs, most notably, “Dini” and “Zsa Zsa,” who they had for nearly fifteen years.
After retirement, she and Bill spent many winters in Florida, hosting at various State RV parks, making many good friends and being regular attendees at the Daytona 500. They also hosted parks in BC for several summers.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Bill; nephews, Matthew and Robbie Leggat and sister, Stephanie Leggat.
Elaine is survived by her stepdaughter, Nancy (Dimitri Koutroulakis) and their children, Ashley (Andreas Shilin) and Courtney (Jerrick Smith); Ashley and Andreas’ children, William and Landon; stepson, Mike and his partner, Christina Dempsey and stepdaughter, Jenny (Regan Oliver and their children, Noah and Jonah. She is also survived by her brother Len Limpert (Anne) and their children, Danny and Sara (Ken Woods) and their children, Xavier and Eli and by her nephew, Alex Leggat (Lexi).
We would like to thank the staff of Elk Court for their wonderful care of Elaine for the past year after her stroke and for the care given to her by the staff of Northwood Halifax prior to her stroke.
Donations in Elaine’s memory, may be made to a charity of choice.
Elaine requested no visitation or service. She has been cremated under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS.
