It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Eileen Mary Slater of Louisdale on August 27, 2022.
Born on January 4, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Joyce) and adoptive father Hilaire Samson.
Eileen had an extremely loving and generous soul, always helping family members and anyone in need. Anything she did or gave to others came from her heart.
She was extremely religious and her daily prayers always included asking God to watch over others. Just two days before passing, she was praying to God to please look after and protect her sons.
She loved her husband Cecil with all her heart and stood by his side for 58 years. There wasn’t a day since his passing
that she didn’t say she wished they had more time and now they have forever.
She also had a very special love and bond with her 4 grandsons; she spoke often of how proud she was of them.
Some of her favorite things included keeping a very clean and organized house, cooking, card plays with her friends and faithfully attending mass.
She is survived by her sons Blair (Cathy) Samson, Louisdale; James Pepping, Edmonton; John Slater, Louisdale; Gary (Kim) Slater, Halifax; Bradley (Lisa) Slater, Louisbourg; grandsons Kristopher (Amy) Slater, Halifax; Chandler Slater, Halifax; Randy (Erin) Samson, Dartmouth; Kyle (Haley) Samson, Arichat; great-grandson Leo; sisters Carol-Anne (Bobby) McPhee, Louisdale; Judy-Anne (John) MacNeil, Iona; and many extended family members.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Cecil Slater, and a brother John (Johnnie) Samson.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Strait Richmond hospital for all their care in making her final days comfortable. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Glenn Samson Room, St. Louis Church, Louisdale. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at St Louis Parish with Rev. Duncan D. MacIsaac officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Louis Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Eileen can be made to the Canadian Cancer, or a charity of your choice.
