JOHNSTON, Eileen
1932 – 2022
Eileen Johnston (Campbell) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the age of 89 years at the Woodland Villa, Long Sault due to dementia.
Eileen married May 12th, 1950 Billy Johnston (deceased) and went on to have 7 children. Fay Menard (Gerry) of Cornwall, Freddie Johnston of Cornwall, Judy Johnston of Toronto, Diane Lacombe (Gilbert) of Bonville, Jo-anne Perozak (Brian) of Atikokan, and Michael Johnston (Dolly Mathews) of Ottawa. Along with 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Eileen, a city person, married into a country world. It was hard work with long hours. She learned to feed the hogs, horses, sheep, hens and milk the cows. She loved the animals. She had her favourite dogs and cats. Eileen even drove the tractors to help out. But on top of all this, she kept us kids fed (boy she could cook) and clothed. Then, also looked after the house. So proud of her.
Eileen and Billy later in life took up bowling, dancing, bingo, cards and did some travelling. They went to Alaska, Aruba (a few times), through the states, across Canada etc. Eileen was also a member of the Women’s Institute.
Eileen is predeceased in death by her parents Lillian Ruth (Runions) and Donald Frederick Campbell. Her daughter Debbie Grangello (David) and grandson Jason Lacombe. Her sister’s Freda Bartch (Art) and Ruth Atchison (Ernie). Her brother’s Earl, Gordon, Robert and Doyle.
Eileen is survived by her precious sister Elva Arnold (late James). Mom’s comrade in many adventures.
Since the death of our Dad, Freddie moved in with Mom to assist with everyday living. Mom will be dearly missed by Freddie.
The family would like to say a special thank-you to Woodland Villa for their care and understanding while looking after our Mom, Eileen.
