Sokiri, Edward Lolik:
In loving memory of Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend and Father, Edward Lolik Sokiri, who was born in Kajo Keji from the clan of Kadeba, in Lire Payam, mekir Boma, Central Equatoria State, Sudan on January 1, 1974, and passed away in Kitchener, Ontario, on December 1, 2021.
Sokiri was the second born of four children to father Clement Kwori Modi and Mother Tabita Puru Boyong. He leaves behind three children Ivan Lolik Modi – age 27, Ester Poni Sokiri – age 11, and Meshach Modi Sokiri – age 8.
Edward Sokiri left South Sudan in 1988 due to the civil war to join his Uncle Kenari Kiriti in Bugerere, Uganda, where he grew up. In 1994, he later moved to a Kenya refugee camp. Eight years later, he immigrated to Canada as a permanent resident.
Sokiri was a loving and compassionate individual who dedicated all his life working to support his family, relatives, and friend. He sponsored most of his relatives, nieces, and nephews to obtain higher education and establish businesses. Sokiri was a shoulder to lean on for many friends.
Sokiri, you have left us too soon, although we feel blessed for your short life with us, the Sudanese community in Kitchener, friends, and family will forever miss you. Rest in peace dear son, brother, uncle, father, and friend; Edward Lolik Sokiri, until we meet again.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery.
