On March 29, 2022, Edward Joseph King of Torbay passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with COPD, at the age of 74 years.
Predeceased by his parents and parents-in-law, Alexander and Agnes(Miller) King, Thomas and Mary McGrath and Edward and Beatrice Shea. Also predeceased by his siblings Mike and Gerry King and sister Barbara Ralph; his in-laws Pat (Gertie), Dave, John and Brendan McGrath, Helen Laurie, Calvin Lambe, Vic Kodoma and John Staley, niece Dawn Sullivan and his best friend Dave Finch.
Leaving to mourn his wife, Mary(McGrath) and his children Alex (Sarah Wilson) and Jennifer Whitten (Phillip). Also leaving to mourn his grandchildren who were the light of his life: Charlee and Emma Whitten and Finnley King. As well his siblings, Mary and Frances King, Sharon Connolly, Marian Kodoma, Linda Lambe, Karen Staley and Brian (Monica) King; sisters-in-law Theresa (Robert) Kavanagh, Madeline, Diane and Jenny McGrath, brother-in-law Jim Laurie and numerous nieces and nephews. Also mourning his loss are his friends and neighbors, especially, Theresa Hickey, Anne Manning, Sheila and Michael Waterman, Eileen Finch, Angela Flemming and his special friend Agnes Whitten.
Edward was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus (Holy Trinity) and volunteered his time to help with many charitable projects, as he was well known for his ticket sales. He was a great supporter of his family and friends, especially his grandchildren – his pride and joy.
Special thanks to his community health nurse, Paulette Doyle for her help over the past few years and the Palliative Care Home program.
Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home in Torbay on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 1-9 PM and Mass of Christian Burial from Holy Trinity Church in Torbay on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10 AM. The family requests that visitors wear a mask at the funeral home and at the church in respect of those who are immunocompromised. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bauline Line, Torbay.
Flowers are graciously accepted or donations can be made in his memory to the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department or the Ronald McDonald House.
