Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Edward James “Jim” Hawco announce his passing on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 surrounded by his family and close friends at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital at the age of 74 years.
Jim was a dedicated, devoted, loving husband, father, Poppy, brother and friend to anyone who had the honour of knowing him. His smile would light up any room.
He leaves to mourn with many loving and precious memories: wife of 44 years Gladys; his children: Cynthia (Richard) and Christopher (Tianna); beloved grandchildren: Abbey, Harlyn, Georgia, Ryland, and Jackson. Jim leaves behind sister Carol Hunt; very special nephew Dwayne Pittman who love Jim dearly; sisters-in-law: Hazel (Jim), Francis (Ivan), Beatrice (Enos); and Hayward (Jean); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
Jim was predeceased by parents Elizabeth and Thomas Hawco.
Following his wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11th from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, December 13th at 10:00 AM from St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street.
Thank you to his special angel Tianna Beaulieu who loved and helped care for Jim. Thank you to the nurses and staff at Sir Thomas Roddick who treated him with respect and dignity. Thank you to Dr. McComiskey for the support that was provided to Jim and also his family.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
