Edward (Googie) Gerard
Nash
June 2, 1970 – November 13, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce
the passing of a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend,
Edward (Googie) Gerard Nash of Branch St. Mary’s Bay, age
52.
Edward is predeceased by his father,
Michael Nash, his nephews, Michael and Keith Nash-Roche and his
grandparents.
Leaving to mourn is his loving wife,
Melissa Nash. Melissa and Googie have shared this journey of life
together for the past twenty three years. Googie also leaves behind
his dearest mother, Carmel Nash, brother, Al Nash, sisters, Lucy Nash
(Vince) and Kelly Power (Bert), his nephews, Bradley (Melanie), Brent
(Kerri) and Jonathan, his nieces, Cheryl (Mike) and Hailey, his great
nephews and nieces, Landon, Beau, Kayden, Karsyn and Brilena, his
parents-in-law, Paddy and Doreen Barry, his brother-in-law, Robert
(Angie) and sister-in-law Natasha (Danny). Along with his family,
Edward’s enormous group of extended family and friends will
miss him dearly.
Googie enjoyed his life to the fullest,
his bright smile and genuine kindness defined the person that he was.
Anyone that knew Googie has probably been helped by him in one way or
another. He was a friend to each and every person he met; always there
to lend a helping hand. Throughout his life, Googie has led around 18
people out of the country to safety. This major act of kindness is
just one of the countless examples that prove the caring person that
he was. Googie has also devoted thirty six years of his life to the
Branch Volunteer Fire Department. He was always proud to call himself
First Assistant Fire Chief. Googie was a man of great faith in the
lord and this faith was further strengthened throughout these past few
months of sickness. It would certainly not be right to finish this
obituary without mentioning Googie’s absolute love for
hunting. The best way to describe his hunting activities is by saying,
if Googie was around , anything with four legs was going down. Whether
it was moose, ducks, rabbits, patridges or geese, Googie was always
eager for a good hunting trip, with a dog and a friend trailing
behind. Googie made a living off the sea, as it fit his identity so
perfectly. The crew of the Lady Easton will miss his hard work and
humor on deck.
Googie was the definition of a great man.
He lived an exceptional life, sharing ever-lasting love with anyone in
his path, especially the ultimate love of his life, Melissa. He was
surrounded by an endless amount of family and friends his entire life.
He will be greatly missed by anyone who has known him. However, his
legacy will live on forever.
Googie’s family would like to
send out their utmost appreciation to all the medical staff who have
helped Googie throughout his battle. Their generosity will forever be
remembered. A special thank you is in order for the doctors and nurses
at the Cancer Clinic and nurses, Danielle (Placentia Hospital) and
Vivian Careen (Community Health and special friend of both Googie and
Melissa). Googie’s favorite nurse throughout has been his
dear wife, Melissa. Since the first day of diagnosis, Melissa has been
by Googie’s side. She has gone above and beyond her call of
duty as a wife, making sure that he was comfortable and well taken
care of. She ensured that Googie received the best possible care. One
of the leading factors in the creation of Googie’s amazing
life was the love and care shown by Melissa. Googie, along with his
family, have always been so grateful for the gift that is
Melissa.
Googie will be resting at Holy Rosary
Church in Branch on Monday, November 14th starting at 2:30 pm. A
service will be taking place on Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00 pm. The
funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 16th.
Cremation to follow and burial on Friday, November 18th at 11:00 am at
Holy Rosary Cemetery in Branch.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Edward Googie Gerard Nash 1970 2022..
