Wood, Edmund “Burke” Wood
Peacefully, at his home in Ayr, on February 17, 2022, of Ayr, at the age of 84 years.
Beloved husband to Agnes (nee Dyhrberg); loved father to Steven Wood (Ellen), Dawn Stamplecoskie (Wayne), Julie Wood, and the late Michael Wood; cherished grandpa to 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Sadly missed by his sister Rosemary and many extended family and friends.
Also predeceased by his parents William and Marion Wood (nee Mannen), his siblings George, Murray, Jerry, and Margaret and his dear grandson Killian.
Burke worked as a Linesman and Technician with Bell Canada until his retirement. He was a farmer, ran an apple orchard, and built his own home for himself and his wife Agnes when they settled in Ayr. He was active in the local community, participating in Curling and Lawn Bowling, among others, and he served as a member of many local boards and community organizations. He was a member of the Ayr Masonic Lodge No. 172, and was an avid card player.
Friends may call at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St. Ayr on Tuesday February 22, 2022, from 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel the following day, Wednesday February 23, 2022, at 1:00 PM. Please RSVP Through Funeral Home Website for visitation and or service. All Current Covid 19 Protocols in Place.
