Edith Florence McKeague 1919 2022

Edith Florence McKeague, passed away at the Orchard View Long Term Care Home Gagetown, on September 22, in her 104th year.
Predeceased by her parents, Leverett and Olga (Fowler) McKeague, and her brother, James McKeague.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Bonnie McGuire (the late Mike McGuire) of Calgary, Frances McKeague of Toronto and Charles McKeague (Glenna Law) of Gagetown, as well as several grand nieces and nephew, Chris, Mary (Cath Reid), Andy (Christine Benoit), Jamie and Madisyn.
Edith graduated from the New Brunswick Normal School in 1937 and obtained her teacher’s license. She excelled in Arts and languages. Edith particularly enjoyed learning and speaking Latin and French. Edith held a number of teaching positions in central and eastern New Brunswick. She was a life long learner and attended many summer school sessions at the New Brunswick Teachers College to further her teaching credentials.
Eventually she retired to her family home on Grimross Farm in Gagetown, where she enjoyed gardening, music and trips with her mother. She was an accomplished flower gardener and was known for her love of irises. She loved music and knew the words of nearly all the hymns of the Anglican Church. Edith was a life long member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Gagetown.
Special thanks to the staff of the Orchard View Long Term Care Home who always went out of their way to ensure that Edith was well taken care of and comfortable, treating her like she was their family.
Funeral service details are incomplete, but will be announced on our website.
