Obituary
Rose was born in Verdun, Montreal, Quebec and passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021, at the age of 101. Rose was predeceased by Jake, her husband of 58 years, and her brothers Albert and Chuck.
Rose is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Lynne (Rob), Diane (Doug) and Sharon (Mike), grandchildren Cindy (Bill), Shannon (Allan), David (Laura), Mike, Jennifer (Steve), Kelly (Joel) and Heather, and great grandchildren Reece, Megan, Tyler, Angelina, Maddie, Payton, Carter, Morgan, Kennedy, Gabby, Bradley, Arabella, Lorenzo, Jake, Brady, Ole, and one great-great granddaughter, Maria. She is also survived by her younger sister, Shirley (Larry) as well as many nephews and nieces.
Rose joined the RCAF during the war years and taught Morse code as well as other signals at Claresholme, Alberta to pilots in training. This is where she met Jake who was with the RCAF and they were married in 1945 in Moncton, New Brunswick. Jake remained with the RCAF after the war and as such they moved through the years to various locations in Canada, retiring to the Comox Valley in 1963.
Rose loved travelling and took part in elephant rides in Thailand, snorkeling in Hawaii, to parasailing in Mexico and ziplining in the Bahamas. She was very active and adventuresome and remained such throughout her entire life. Rose loved golf and joined Glacier Greens Golf Club when it first opened in the 1980’s and continued to golf well into her 90’s. Due to her long-term membership, Glacier Greens presented her with a lifetime membership in her latter years.
Rose loved waterskiing and both she and Jake were instrumental in forming the 4C’s Aqua Ski Club in the Comox Valley. Rose also enjoyed games, be it cards, scrabble or other board games. She belonged to Bridge clubs and played weekly over the years.
Rose also enjoyed the Drama club participating in several plays, she was a member of the Probus club and enjoyed volunteering at various locale’s such as Evergreen Seniors kitchen and Sendial.
Rose was especially fond of gatherings and dinners and “Happy Hour” with family and friends. Her life touched many and she will be well remembered as a loving mother and a proud grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and a good friend.
The family would like to thank the staff, Comox Valley Hospital for the care Rose received during the last few days of her life. Special thanks to Dr. Thompson for those years of care that Rose received from him.
