Obituary
Redden, Edith (nee Glover)
October 5, 1927 – November 3, 2022
Passed away peacefully at Trenton Memorial Hospital on November 3, 2022 at the age of 95 years. Beloved wife of the late Harold Redden. Cherished mother of Marilyn Laver, Heather Redden-Greer (George) and predeceased by her dear daughter Kathryn “Kathy”. Much loved grandmother of Kate Laver (Jason), Brent Laver (Adrianna) and Julian Greer (Savannah), and Great-Grammie of Morgan, Claire, Henry and Carter.
Edith will be missed by her sister-in-law Joyce Glover and fondly remembered by other family members including her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Clarence and Nellie Glover, siblings Alec Glover, Isobel Dunk (Lew), Jim Glover (Isabel), and sisters-in-law Dorothy Kimbel and Evelyn McEwen (Ken).
Above all else, Edith loved her family and was deeply thankful for time spent with them. Her avid interest in family history has ensured that this information is preserved for the next generations.
Born in Morganston, Edith and her family moved to the farm on Glover Road, Warkworth in 1936. The Redden family moved to the farm next door in 1937 and the rest is history! When they married in 1950, Edith and Harold made their home at the Redden farm and raised their family there. They hosted many gatherings of family and friends where guests would be warmly welcomed and treated to Edith’s great cooking, especially her raspberry pies.
Edith followed a family tradition of nursing and graduated from the Belleville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She greatly enjoyed her work as a nurse in Belleville and Campbellford. As a life member of the White School Women’s Institute and St. Paul’s United Church, Edith was very active in the community. She golfed in a local league and was a talented artist and seamstress. Edith’s appreciation of music was passed along to her family.
Edith moved to Golden Pond Retirement Residence in 2017. The family wishes to thank the staff for their caring and dedication.
A service of remembrance will take place at Weaver Family Funeral Home – Warkworth on Monday November 14th, 2022 at 2:00 pm with visitation from 12:30 – 2:00. Reception will follow at St. Paul’s United Church. Cremation has taken place and interment at Warkworth Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Donations to St. Paul’s United Church, Warkworth or the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
