EDITH OLWEN JEWETT
Nee CARTER
APRIL 8, 1933 – JULY 18, 2022
Edie passed away with her family by her side at our farm in Mulmur. Edie was married to Ken and mother to Cathy, Graeme (Laura), James (Cindy) and was Granny to six grandchildren; Max and Bryn Horner, Stephanie (Alex Boot), Carter, Erica and Cameron; Great-Granny to Hudson Boot. Edith was the daughter of Cyril and Nancy Carter. Her brothers Henry, Fred, Owen and Terry said she was their favourite sister. Edie was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Her interests included acting as a Board Member of Belmont House/Marsan Foods/Maple Leaves Forever. Edie was a member to the Georgian Peaks Ski Club, Rosedale Golf Club and Beaumaris Yacht Club. She loved family skiing in Collingwood and summers at our family cottage in Muskoka.
Edie graduated from Havergal College where she met lifelong friends. She later graduated from TGH Nursing School and worked for many years at Princess Margaret Hospital. She was active on the stage. Edie won many flower arranging ribbons as a member of the Garden Club of Toronto.
Edie and Ken went on many adventures together; some special times included the Nahanni River and driving our Jeep from London to Beijing and of course when all three generations enjoyed six trips as diverse as the Queen Charlottes (Gwaii Haanas) to the battlefields of WWI and II.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family which started with a romance that lasted 66 years with her husband Ken. Our Dad adored Mum for all that she was; charming, beautiful, bright, witty and most of all, a loving wife and mother.
What made Edie special was her
