Edith Izairovich, of Nakusp, British Columbia, passed away quietly in her sleep in the early afternoon of December 12, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 81 years old.
Edith was born on March 27, 1941, to Friederich and Leokadia Bunn in Lodz, Poland. Edith was predeceased by her older brother, Arnold, who passed away in 2002, but is survived by two sisters, Erika Raboud, and Greta Albrecht.
After the Bunn family emigrated to Canada in 1954, Edith was smitten by Nejas Izairovich. They were married on May 15, 1959, and went on to produce four children named James Gemal, Emily Emina, Jeffery Bajrum, and Halim. Edith and Nejas remained together until Nejas passed away on February 2, 2010.
For over 40 years, Edith and Nejas (Nick to his friends), successfully ran several bakeries and restaurants in Calgary, Alberta, to end up finally digging in and setting up permanent roots in Nakusp, in 1986. There, they were fortunately able to take over the Village Bread and Pastry Shoppe from Luther Poland.
Edith loved family and adored her grand children, Alexander and Nicholas Simin, Haley Anne Izairovich, and Grace Edith Eva Izairovich. She also loved to serve lavish dinners to family and friends. Edith will fondly be remembered asking, “can I get you anything?” from anyone that has known her.
Edith’s most obsessive hobby was certainly gardening. She loved getting her hands dirty and finding more unique trees and flowers to add to her yard every year.
Zac Schmidt has been entrusted with the arrangement of a small service of close family and friends in the chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Nakusp, B.C.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Edith Izairovich March 27 1941
