Edgar’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edgar Osmond announces his passing on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing, NL at the age of 86 years. Born in Cape Ray, NL, Edgar was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (nee Chant) Osmond. He was also predeceased by his infant son; Curtis, brothers; Absalom (Susan) Osmond, Raymond Osmond, sisters; Lillian (Thomas) Osmond, Margaret (George) Jeans, son-in-law; Eric Penney, father and mother-in-law; William and Sarah (nee Fizzard) Bryne, brothers-in-law; George Allen, Harvey Bryne and sister-in-law; Kathleen (Ben) LeRiche.
He leaves to mourn with many special memories his wife Joan of 66 years, his children; Benjamin (Patricia) Osmond of Clarenville, NL, Sandra (Cecil) Dominey of Brampton, ON, Raymond (Kathy) Osmond of Fergus, ON, Judy Penney of Jeffreys, NL, Craig (Barbara) Osmond of Lethbridge, AB, Tammy (Craig) Priddle of Corner Brook, NL, grandchildren; Brent, Heather, Christopher, Colleen, Stephen, Kayla, Erica, Tammy-Lynn, Jillian, Dylan, Brendan, Kaitlyn and their spouses, plus eleven great-grand children. He also leaves behind his brothers; Ralph Osmond, John (Florence) Osmond both of Cape Ray, NL, sisters; Ethel Allan of Port aux Basques, NL, Joyce (Harold) Janes of Cape Ray, NL, brother-in-law; Bill (Beatrice) Bryne of Port aux Basques, NL, sisters-in-law; Ruby (George) May of Pontiac, Michigan, USA, Gertie (Roland) Clarke of Port aux Basques, NL, Laura Bryne Hardy (Gerry Howard) of St. John’s NL, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to his care-workers; Sylvia Cross and Roberta Francis for their kindness, dedication, compassion and care provided to Edgar during his illness.
Visitation taking place on Thursday, July 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 22nd at 11 a.m. from St. James Anglican Church, Channel-Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Jane Allen. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edgar can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland & Labrador, 835 Topsail Rd Unit 107, Mount Pearl, NL A1N 3J6.
