Earl Joseph Gallant
We, the family of Earl Joseph Gallant, regret to announce his passing on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at his residence.
Born on June 23, 1946, in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alex and Annie Mae (MacNeil) Gallant of Reserve Mines.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Earl was the husband of Noreen (Stevens) Gallant (also deceased on April 24, 2022) for 31 years.
Earl is survived by his sons, Jean-Russell Gallant of Ontario, Derrick Gallant of Lower Onslow, and Ellis Gallant of Sydney and daughters, Lisa Gallant of Sydney, Melanie James of Calgary, and Sonya Gallant of Sydney. He is survived by his nephew, Blair MacNeil. Earl had 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Earl was a Broadcast Engineer and worked as a Transmitter Senior Technician with CBC for 34 years from 1975 to 2009.Afterwards, he worked with Somers Communications as a Broadcast Technician Transmitters TV-Radio from 2009 until his death. He was also self-employed with MBS Radio (Maritime Broadcasting Services) since 2010 until his death.
He loved baseball and was little league coach for 15 years and softball player for 20 years.
Earl was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 29, 1984, and was an active elder in the local Sydney Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
A double funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. To receive Zoom details contact Mr. Roy Tucker at 902-574-5051.
The in-person funeral service is to be held at the Sydney Memorial Chapel with Mr. Roy Tucker officiating. Priority seating is reserved for family and close friends with 55 remaining seats available on a first come first served basis.
