Memorial Donation
Earl Ernest Peeples, 91 of Mulgrave passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2022. Born on August 4, 1931 in Pirate Harbour near Mulgrave, he was the youngest son of the late Ernest and Mary (Chisholm) Peeples.
Earl was a skilled craftsman who will be remembered for his handmade guitars and instruments. His love for music began at the early age of 6 when he taught himself to play his older brother’s guitar. He began singing and playing guitar at local barn dances as a teen and it continued through the decades, enjoying his retirement years travelling to music festivals in his motor home with Anna.
For 29 years Earl worked at the Pulp Mill in Port Hawkesbury and before that for MT&T, laying some of the first phone lines in parts of the province. After retiring Earl was an active member in the Mulgrave community and is recognized for his fundraising concerts to build the bandstand in McNairs Cove Park, contributions to the Mulgrave Heritage Centre and countless projects throughout the town.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Anna (Tramble), daughter, Carol (Gary), three sons, Doug (Roseann), Jim (Sherry), John (Lisa), sister, Annie (Peeples) Meagher, 14 Grandchildren, and 21 Great Grandchildren.
Predeceased by his daughter Kathleen (Kathe) whom he loved so dearly, his brothers, Harold, Clayton, Alonzo and Daniel.
Funeral Mass will take place at St. Lawrence Catholic Parish Church in Mulgrave, on Wednesday August 17, 2022 at 11:00am, Father Allan MacPhie officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. (cancer.ca/en/)
